Application for ElemSec Out of Boundary 2016     MOVING RESIDENCE - OUT OF BOUNDARY STUDENTS.pdf

Admission and Tax Support

Elementary School Admission
Step #1: Identify the school community your child is eligible to attend in accordance with the Wellington Catholic boundary guidelines.

Step #2: Confirm that your tax support is directed to the Catholic school system. This confirmation is required at registration and will allow you to vote for Catholic school trustees in municipal elections. Please note: If you have recently moved your support will be directed to the public school system unless you indicate otherwise on the assessment role. Forms to redirect your taxes to the Catholic school district are available for download here, from Central Office, or your school of registration.

Step #3: Provide Baptismal records. This will be an important factor when your child is presented for Reconciliation and First Communion in the second grade.

High School Admission
Step #1: Identify the school community your child is eligible to attend in accordance with the Wellington Catholic boundary guidelines.

Step #2: Register at your local high school. All students, regardless of religious denomination, are welcome. This is what is often referred to as ‘open access’ at the secondary level. All students who are eligible to attend high school in Wellington County are eligible to attend. Please note: Each student will be expected to participate in all aspects of learning within a Catholic environment, including attendance at Mass. Teachers, faculty and staff both model and infuse every class with Christian morals and values, whether it's theology, mathematics or an English lesson.

Confirming tax support is important
Despite changes in the way school districts are funded in Ontario, confirming tax support is still important. The assessment role, where Catholic and public school support is officially recorded, is the only record, beyond school enrollment numbers, of how many people support the Catholic school system.

Why are enrollment numbers not enough to  indicate support?
The assessment role counts all households, including those where there are no children. Households with no children outnumber those with children and their support is especially important on these roles. Please remember, when you move, you must check off your support on the appropriate forms, or your support will automatically change to the public school system. Forms to redirect your taxes to the Catholic school district are available for download here, from Central Office, or your school of registration.
